Three lucky NBA fans from the UK, Spain and Germany have been given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to attend the NBA All-Star 2017 in New Orleans, after being chosen as the ultimate winners of the #MyNBAStory competition.
The NBA asked fans to explain why they loved the game for the chance to have their stories made into an original short film. Three finalists were selected across each country with their stories opened up to the public who were then invited to vote for their favourite. The ultimate winners were then announced at NBA Global Games London 2017.
Craig Sharland from Winchester was selected as the UK winner for his story, which charted how his childhood passion extended into adulthood and enabled him to take up a role coaching the Southampton University third team.
Craig said: “Basketball has given me a life. The person I am today, everything from my confidence to the way I conduct myself, it’s all things that have been built up through basketball. It will always play a part in my life, I’ll always watch the game, I’ll always be around it and there will always be a real love there for it.”
Craig will now enjoy an all-expenses paid trip for two to NBA All-Star 2017 in New Orleans, USA, taking place between 17th- 19th February.
