Benny Bonsu is an award winning young dynamic powerhouse in sports broadcasting globally with a background in education as a behavior specialist. A fan favourite NBA Broadcaster, writer and producer currently part of the BT Sport, Sky Sports and Matchroom Sports family.

Over the years, Benny has worked with some of the biggest organisations in the world such as the NCS with The Challenge, British Foreign Office, Alibaba, Princes Trust, Sports England, London Mayor’s Office, National Basketball Association, The Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, and Premier League for Sports, London 2012 Olympics, KICKz, and Met Police. The list is endless.

A graduate, she earned All-London honors as a youth and community activist and set the record for the highest retention for the Princes Trust Team Programmes as a Team Leader while double majoring in Media and Advertising with International Business. As a student-athlete and a student rep, she gained experience as the sports reporter for all athletic events, as well as hosting and producing sports radio on university, campus.

After years of working with the named organizations, Benny followed her passion for broadcasting. She went onto co-hosting “Guinness Raise Your Game” with Eddie Kadi and Fabrice Muamba on Sky TV channel 442, presenting the weekend show on Break London radio, worked as a TV producer during the London 2012 Olympics for men and women’s basketball and also Paralympic basketball, produced some of the biggest television shows across Africa for the Modern Times Group, which includes “The One Show,” “Bedroom Diaries Of A Black Woman,” “This Morning,” “Boys Boys,” “Sports Xtra,” “Football 360,” “A Day In The Life,” and Viasat 1 News,” and in 2014, she became part of the BBC Worldservice team, presenting on the Sport Today and the Sports World show. 2017, she achieved her life long goal to become a courtside reporter by hosting LIVE on TV and online globally for BT Sport for the NBA Global Games London for the Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers. Benny is also a successful staff writer for TRUE Africa magazine and the leading lady for the NBA Global Games.

One of the greatest moment of her life was in 2015, when I covered the first ever NBA Africa Game in Johannesburg, South Africa for the BBC Africa and also in 2013, when she was saluted and honored at the African Union Diaspora Forum Mission Annual Awards & Dinner 2013 for “Being an inspiration to the next generation and giving Africa a positive face around the world’ alongside Kirk Franklin, Rita Marley, Bishop Barbara Lewis King, Jim Ike, Dr. Kofi Amoah, Prof. Atukwei Okai. In 2016, she was nominated for the “Best Diaspora Media Personality” for the Ghana Sports Excellence Award and she won. In 2017, she was nominated for the “Best Diaspora Reporter” for the Ghana Sports Excellence Award.

Benny is someone who gives back to her community and believes in the empowerment of women and young people. Benny is a Business Mentor for the Cherie Blair Business Foundation – where she mentors women around the world, helping them grow and raise the awareness of their businesses. When she is not doing that, she is part of the UN Women UK Committee, Women In Football and also Women In Sport. She is also the founder of Girls In Sport – touring 100 schools and colleges in London to inspire the next generation of girls in sport.
